| For Home Buyers

“Alexa, open Real Estate.” Saying these four little words could kickstart the search for your next home.

That’s thanks to Real Estate by Voiceter Pro. I couldn’t be more excited about this app, which allows home hunters to carry out conversation-based searches for listings that match their needs.

What does this look like in the real world? Say you want a three-bedroom house with a pool in central Etobicoke. Imagine telling Alexa, Cortana, or another virtual assistant to find listings that match this description.

For now, the Real Estate app only works in select American markets. But I think it’s only a matter of time before Toronto homebuyers can start using it. Here are five reason to get excited about that.

1) You can use it to search by size, price, and location

Buyers are used to clicking, tapping, and scrolling to find useful information during their home searches. But I can’t tell you how many clients I have who simply don’t have the time to sift through online listings—especially when a lot of them aren’t relevant.

That’s one of the great things about Real Estate. Through voice-activated devices like Amazon Echo and Google Home, the app lets homebuyers communicate their criteria verbally to get more meaningful results.

Want to see listings in a particular neighbourhood within a set price range? Only interested in homes that have specific features? This app’s got you covered.

It also taps into a super useful data source that buyers don’t always have access to—the multiple listing service (a tool we agents use to share our listings with one another).

2) It’s conversational

I enjoy the convenience of technology as much as the next person. But there’s just something different about the service a professional offers.

The Voiceter Pro app offers a more personalized experience than most search engines. It mimics human interaction, allowing users to state their real estate needs aloud—and hear helpful verbal responses.

Of course, virtual assistants can’t provide the type of conversational experience that an agent can. When clients come to me, they want their needs to be both heard and understood by someone with real-world expertise.

What the Real Estate app can do is help you find relevant information much quicker than you otherwise would. And that’s pretty helpful.

3) It’s ultra convenient

I get it. You’re busy, and you’re always on the lookout for time-saving life hacks. Me too.

That’s why I’m such a big fan of hands-free devices. Because they’re perfect for those of us who always wind up doing two or three things at once. Anyone who’s ever used a Bluetooth in the car knows what I’m talking about.

Searching for a home can be just as convenient. With the Real Estate app, you can search for relevant listings while you make dinner. Multitaskers, rejoice!

4) It can complement your agent’s search efforts

As a real estate agent, I’m always looking for new ways to make the home-buying process easier. I’m also aware that some of my clients are doing a lot of online searching on their own, and I think it’s great that they’re so engaged.

That’s why I’m so excited about the Voiceter Pro app—and any other real estate apps that might be in the pipeline. Because as much as I enjoy introducing newbies to the market, it’s just as rewarding to help those who have already done some homework take their search to the next level.

5) User reviews have been great so far

As I mentioned, the Real Estate app isn’t available everywhere right now. But in the select markets where it’s being used, the verdict is in. Early adopters are loving it.

Don’t believe me? Check out the reviews on Amazon, where users are raving about the convenience of doing a voice-driven home search. I for one can’t wait until this service becomes available in the GTA!
